Find the months with an extra paycheck

Use the real pay cycle and anchor date to count deposits by month.

For biweekly pay, look for months containing three scheduled paydays. For weekly pay, the extra-paycheck months contain five. The anchor date determines which months qualify.

Choose the right cycle

A biweekly cycle advances by 14 days, so it does not stay on two fixed calendar dates. A weekly cycle advances by seven days. Those repeating intervals are what create extra-paycheck months.

Twice-monthly pay follows a different pattern. Do not select biweekly simply because you usually receive two deposits in a month.

  1. Choose weekly or biweekly as appropriate.
  2. Enter a known regular payday.
  3. Choose the year.
  4. Compare the listed dates with your payroll calendar.

Check the anchor before using the answer

An anchor that is one week out can change the extra-paycheck months in a biweekly cycle. Use a confirmed regular scheduled date rather than a guess.

If an employer moves deposits around holidays, distinguish the repeating scheduled date from the actual bank deposit. Use Payday / Workday Planner to examine shifting assumptions.

An extra date is not an extra salary promise

The result counts pay dates. It does not determine pay amount, taxes, deductions, eligibility, or whether a particular employer handles year-end payroll differently.

Keep the dates as a planning reference and confirm the final payroll schedule. If your cycle changes midyear, build and review the relevant periods separately.

Questions, answered

Why does my coworker get different months?

A different anchor date or payroll cycle produces a different sequence. Compare the actual scheduled dates before assuming either result is wrong.

Does this calculate my income?

No. It counts scheduled paydays by month; it does not calculate pay amounts or deductions.
